Cody Wright was born in Toquerville, Utah on April 1, 1977 to William (Bill) and Evelyn Wright. He is the second of thirteen children. He has six brothers and six sisters. Cody grew up in Hurricane, Utah and later moved to Milford, Utah at the age of 16. Cody graduated from Milford High School in 1996. He attended the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls, Idaho on a rodeo scholarship. He graduated with his Associates Degree in Equine Science. After finishing school in Idaho he returned to Milford with his wife, ShaRee and three boys, Rusty, Ryder & Stetson. He began rodeoing full-time in 2001. His dad is his hero. He looks to his wife for support when it comes to rodeo, family and life!

Oldest son is Rusty he is 13. Ryder is 11. Stetson is 9. Statler is 5. Lily Jo is 10 weeks old (born 2-9-09).

He enjoys spending time with his boys herding cows, mending fence, and just cowboying! Takes the boys on the rodeo trail with him whenever their school and sports don't interfere. He always makes time to take his wife out on "Date Night" when he comes home off the road.

He got interested in rodeo when he found a chest full of rodeo gear of his dads. He did not know that his dad rodeoed until he found his rodeo gear and asked him about it. His dad never rodeoed professionally but did rodeo some. He started rodeoing when he was a freshman in high school. He competed in broncs, bareback, bull riding, calf roping, team roping & steer wrestling. He was constantly running from one end of the arena to the next. In college he spent hours and hours on practice horses and taking in all the information and rodeo tips that his rodeo coach and mentor, Shawn Davis-3 time world champion saddle bronc rider-would offer. Shawn Davis has been a big part of Cody's success in not only college rodeo competition but professional as well.

He has endured a few broken bones and injuries along the road. He has broken both his legs, his back, ankle, broken stayfoid bone in his wrist and knocked a few teeth back.

Cody works out regularly when he is at home. He runs and lifts weights. His motivation is his family and his strong desire to succeed along with his life-long dream of being a world champion bronc rider.

He currently travels with Rusty Allen of Eagle Mountain, UT and Levi Berry of Morgan, UT. He travels all over the U.S. and parts of Canada. He usually travels (drives) around 80,000 miles per year. They also fly as much as possible to keep the time away from home at a minimum. They usually take turns with each other's vehicles. They have campers on the back of their pick-ups and they take turns sleeping and driving. He drives a 2004 Dodge pickup that he won in the Dodge Truck Series rodeos. He loves to eat at Applebee's, and when he is in Texas he enjoys eating at the Texas Land and Cattle restaurant. He enjoys drinking sweet tea when he is in the south, but usually tries to stay away from pop and caffeine and focuses mostly on 2-0 Below water!!!

He is usually on the road about 200-250 days out of the year, depending on the amount of rodeos he goes to. Cody gets really homesick, especially when he has been home for a while and then has to start heavy into the season. He also gets homesick when he is gone and his boys are involved in sports and activities that he has to miss. He usually calls home at least 4-5 times per day. Sometimes more. He can be gone from home up to a month in a half at a time.

His favorite city to rodeo in is Las Vegas, NV for the NFR - OF COURSE! But aside from there, he loves to rodeo in Calgary Alberta, Canada. His favorite rodeo clowns are Flint Rasmussen and Troy Lerwill. He enjoys all kinds of self-help books but his favorite one is Becoming A Better You. His favorite movie is Lonesome Dove. He likes all kinds of music. His favorite color is blue. He favorite boots are boulet.

When he is getting prepared for a rodeo he stretches his back and his legs and thinks about what he needs to do to ride to the best of his ability with the horse that he has drawn.

His favorite bronc horse is probably Mullin Hill of Burch Rodeo Company.
